About the Role
Barton & Peveril Sixth Form College is seeking a Teacher of Psychology for a maternity cover contract in Southampton, Hampshire. This opportunity would suit an outstanding Psychology teacher or someone determined to become one. You will join a collaborative team of 13 Psychology teachers who reflect on their teaching techniques and share excellent resources, supporting a growing A level course with over 1,150 students enrolled.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan and deliver engaging A level Psychology lessons.
- Assess students’ progress and provide constructive feedback to support their learning.
- Adapt teaching approaches to meet students’ learning needs.
- Work collaboratively with colleagues to develop and share teaching resources.
- Reflect on teaching practice and contribute to improvements across the Psychology team.
- Contribute to Criminology teaching where appropriate, if able and willing.
What You'll Need
- Strong Psychology subject knowledge and the ability to teach at A level.
- A commitment to excellent teaching and continued professional development.
- A collaborative approach and willingness to share resources and effective teaching techniques.
- The ability to engage, motivate and support sixth form students.
- Good planning, communication and assessment skills.
- The ability and willingness to teach Criminology would be desirable.
