About the Role
Warrington Borough Council is seeking a passionate, experienced Social Worker to join its Adoption Team on a permanent basis in Warrington, Cheshire. The team sits within a Children in Care Team and offers a supportive, motivated and child-focused working environment. You will work closely with Together for Adoption, the Regional Adoption Agency, and voluntary adoption agencies to support positive outcomes for children.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver child-focused social work to support children whose care plans involve adoption.
- Contribute to assessments, care planning and reviews, keeping children’s needs and wellbeing central to decisions.
- Work collaboratively with colleagues in the Adoption Team and wider Children in Care Team.
- Maintain effective working relationships with social workers and managers at Together for Adoption and voluntary adoption agencies.
- Maintain accurate records and practise in line with safeguarding responsibilities and professional standards.
What You'll Need
- A recognised social work qualification and registration with Social Work England.
- Relevant social work experience and an understanding of the needs of children in care and those moving towards adoption.
- A child-focused approach and a commitment to safeguarding and promoting children’s welfare.
- Strong assessment, communication and professional record-keeping skills.
- The ability to build constructive relationships with children, families, colleagues and partner agencies.
