About the Role
BAE Systems is seeking a Senior System Architect – Payload for a permanent engineering role, helping shape system architectures for payload applications. You will bring a systems-level perspective to complex engineering challenges and work collaboratively with colleagues across disciplines. The role offers hybrid working with three days on site, with Portsmouth (Broad Oak), Filton and Dorchester identified as locations, and requires routine travel to other southern BAE Systems sites in the UK and occasional international travel.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and refine payload system architectures to meet engineering requirements.
- Translate stakeholder needs into clear system requirements and architectural proposals.
- Assess technical options and help resolve design trade-offs across system performance, interfaces and integration.
- Work with multidisciplinary engineering teams to support a coherent system design.
- Prepare technical documentation and contribute to architecture and design reviews.
- Collaborate with colleagues across sites, travelling within the UK and internationally as required.
What You'll Need
- Relevant experience in systems engineering and system architecture for complex engineering applications.
- An understanding of requirements development, interface definition and system integration.
- The ability to evaluate technical options and communicate clear engineering recommendations.
- Strong collaboration skills and confidence working with technical stakeholders across disciplines.
- A structured approach to problem-solving and technical documentation.
- Willingness to work on site three days a week and undertake the travel required for the role.
