About the Role
Join BAE Systems as a Senior Mission System Architect specialising in Network & Data Communications in a permanent engineering role. You will help shape mission system architectures, bringing a systems-level perspective to network design and data communications. The role details identify Portsmouth (Broad Oak), Filton and Dorchester as working locations, with hybrid working involving three days on site. Routine travel to other southern BAE Systems sites within the UK, and occasional international travel, will be required.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and review mission system architectures focused on networks and data communications.
- Translate operational and technical requirements into coherent system design approaches.
- Assess architectural options, considering performance, interfaces and integration requirements.
- Work with engineering colleagues and stakeholders to support alignment across system designs.
- Document architectural decisions and contribute to technical reviews.
- Support cross-site collaboration, travelling within the UK and internationally when required.
What You'll Need
- Relevant experience in systems architecture, network engineering or data communications.
- An understanding of how networks and communications interfaces fit within complex engineering systems.
- The ability to evaluate technical requirements and explain design trade-offs.
- Clear communication skills and a collaborative approach to working with engineering stakeholders.
- The ability to provide senior-level technical input and maintain clear design documentation.
- Availability to meet the on-site working and travel requirements.
