About the Role
Join RAC as a full-time Roadside Vehicle Technician in Newton Abbot, Devon, helping to keep motorists moving across the area. You’ll use your vehicle maintenance and diagnostic skills to support drivers at the roadside and get them safely back on their way wherever possible. The role offers a base salary of £36,400, with realistic on-target earnings of £60,000 through bonuses and enhanced overtime rates.
Key Responsibilities
- Attend roadside breakdowns and assess vehicle faults.
- Use diagnostic and mechanical skills to identify problems and carry out appropriate repairs.
- Explain faults and next steps clearly to motorists, providing calm and professional support.
- Follow safe working practices when assessing and repairing vehicles at the roadside.
- Keep accurate records of diagnostic findings and work completed.
What You'll Need
- A Level 2 qualification in Light Vehicle Maintenance or equivalent.
- At least two years’ relevant vehicle maintenance experience.
- Practical fault-finding skills and a methodical approach to vehicle repairs.
- Good communication skills and a customer-focused approach.
- The ability to work independently and adapt to changing roadside situations.
- Flexibility to work demand-led shifts averaging 40 hours per week.
