About the Role
Join RAC as a Roadside Vehicle Technician in Pontefract, West Yorkshire, and help keep the UK moving. In this full-time role, you’ll use your vehicle maintenance skills to support motorists experiencing breakdowns and get them safely back on the road wherever possible. You’ll start and finish on your driveway, working demand-led shifts averaging 40 hours per week.
Key Responsibilities
- Attend roadside breakdowns and assess vehicle faults.
- Carry out diagnostic checks and suitable roadside repairs.
- Explain faults and next steps clearly to motorists, providing reassurance throughout.
- Work safely at the roadside, taking account of traffic conditions and customer welfare.
- Maintain accurate records of inspections, repairs and assistance provided.
What You'll Need
- A Level 2 qualification in Light Vehicle Maintenance or equivalent.
- At least two years’ relevant vehicle maintenance or repair experience.
- Practical fault-finding and vehicle repair skills.
- A customer-focused approach and clear communication skills.
- The ability to work independently and respond calmly to changing situations.
- Flexibility to work demand-led shifts.
