About the Role
Join RAC as a Roadside Vehicle Mechanic in Hitchin, Hertfordshire, helping to keep motorists moving when their vehicles break down. This full-time role combines practical vehicle diagnostics and repairs with customer support at the roadside. You’ll work demand-led shifts averaging 40 hours per week, starting and finishing on your driveway.
Key Responsibilities
- Attend roadside breakdowns and assess vehicle faults.
- Carry out diagnostic checks and appropriate repairs to help motorists get back on the road.
- Explain faults and next steps clearly to customers.
- Work safely and professionally in changing roadside conditions.
- Maintain accurate records of assessments, repairs and assistance provided.
What You'll Need
- A Level 2 qualification in Light Vehicle Maintenance, or equivalent.
- At least two years’ relevant vehicle maintenance or repair experience.
- Practical fault-finding and vehicle repair skills.
- A customer-focused approach and clear communication skills.
- The ability to work independently and adapt to demand-led shifts.
