About the Role
Join RAC as a Roadside Vehicle Mechanic in St. Albans, Hertfordshire, helping to keep the UK moving. In this full-time role, you’ll use your vehicle maintenance experience to diagnose faults, support motorists and carry out roadside repairs. You’ll start and finish on your driveway, working demand-led shifts averaging 40 hours per week.
Key Responsibilities
- Attend roadside breakdowns and assess vehicle faults.
- Use diagnostic and mechanical skills to identify suitable repair options.
- Carry out safe roadside repairs where possible to help motorists continue their journeys.
- Explain faults and next steps clearly, offering reassurance to customers.
- Follow safe working practices when assessing and repairing vehicles at the roadside.
What You'll Need
- A Level 2 qualification in Light Vehicle Maintenance or equivalent.
- At least two years’ relevant vehicle maintenance experience.
- Practical fault-finding and vehicle repair skills.
- A customer-focused approach and clear communication skills.
- The ability to work independently and adapt to demand-led shifts.
