The following information aims to provide potential candidates with a better understanding of the requirements for this role. OTE £90,000 – £110,000+ Home Based | National Travel Exclusive Search – The Agency The Agency has been exclusively appointed to recruit a National NHS Business Development & Partnerships Manager for a growing independent healthcare provider specialising in ADHD and autism assessment services. This is a key commercial appointment for the business and we're looking for someone with a strong understanding of how NHS-funded clinical services are commissioned, procured and ultimately contracted. You've opened NHS doors before. Now we're looking for someone who knows how to turn those conversations into contracts. Our client has already secured a position across all eight service areas of a national NHS framework and has undertaken extensive engagement across Integrated Care Boards and Primary Care Networks. The foundations are in place. The next stage is turning that opportunity into contracted NHS business. This isn't a traditional medical sales role and it isn't primarily a bid-writing position. We're looking for someone who understands how the NHS buys and commissions clinical services . You'll know how to identify the relevant commissioners and stakeholders, understand where need and funding sit, establish the appropriate procurement route, develop the commercial case and maintain momentum through to contract and mobilisation. The role You'll take ownership of a national NHS business development pipeline, developing senior relationships across ICBs, PCNs, GP federations and NHS provider organisations. You'll be responsible for: Developing relationships with senior NHS commissioners and decision-makers
Securing and attending face-to-face meetings across England
Identifying local service pressures, waiting lists and gaps in provision
Understanding funding structures and identifying relevant decision-makers
Establishing appropriate commissioning and procurement routes
Developing opportunities ahead of formal procurement exercises where appropriate
Turning initial conversations into genuine, qualified commercial opportunities
Developing commissioner proposals and business cases
Leading commercial discussions around pricing, volumes, contract terms and mobilisation
Navigating framework call-offs, direct awards, competitive processes, pilots, partnerships and subcontracting opportunities
Working alongside clinical, finance, quality and operational teams to progress contracts through governance and mobilisation
Building and managing a credible national pipeline
Ultimately, securing NHS-funded contracts and partnerships
This is a full business development role. We're looking for someone capable of progressing an opportunity through stakeholder engagement, governance, procurement, negotiation and mobilisation — rather than solely generating leads. Who are we looking for? We're deliberately keeping the professional background relatively open because your track record matters more than your current job title. You might currently work in NHS business development, partnerships, commercial management, market development or commissioning. You may also have previously worked within NHS commissioning and subsequently moved into a commercial or provider environment. What matters is that you can demonstrate: You've personally contributed to winning NHS clinical-service contracts. You'll understand NHS commissioning structures, procurement processes and complex stakeholder environments. You'll be comfortable engaging with senior commissioners, clinicians, finance teams, procurement professionals and operational stakeholders. We're also looking for someone proactive in developing new opportunities and relationships, rather than solely managing an established portfolio. Experience within ADHD, autism, neurodevelopmental services, mental health, diagnostics, community healthcare or children's services would be particularly relevant, although it isn't essential. Relevant experience The key requirement is demonstrable experience of developing and securing NHS-commissioned clinical services . Candidates whose backgrounds are primarily within pharmaceutical or medical-device sales, private healthcare admissions, bid writing or account management are welcome to apply where they can also demonstrate direct involvement in developing and securing NHS-funded service contracts. The focus is on evidence of contract acquisition and commercial development , rather than simply having an extensive NHS contact network. The package £70,000 – £85,000 basic salary Uncapped performance-related bonus OTE £90,000 – £110,000+ Car allowance / mileage arrangement Home-based working National remit Direct access to the Managing Director and senior leadership team National travel is an important part of the position, so you'll need to be comfortable travelling across England to meet commissioners and other stakeholders.
