About the Role
BAE Systems is seeking a Head of Strategic Engineering & Systems Architectures for a permanent leadership role. You will help shape engineering strategy and systems architecture, bringing a broad technical perspective to complex, technology-led programmes in defence and aerospace. The role is based at Portsmouth (Broad Oak), with hybrid working requiring three days on site.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide strategic direction for engineering and systems architecture activities.
- Align technical approaches with programme objectives and wider business priorities.
- Guide architectural decisions, considering system requirements, integration and long-term development.
- Work with engineering teams and senior stakeholders to communicate technical priorities and resolve complex challenges.
- Champion robust engineering practices, technical assurance and continuous improvement.
What You'll Need
- Significant experience in engineering leadership and systems architecture.

- A strong understanding of complex systems, integration and engineering governance.
- Confident stakeholder management and communication skills, including the ability to explain technical decisions clearly.
