That means the backing is there and the business is moving forward. It's a small, close team where everyone's contribution counts towards the result. This is a new position, created to add to the estimating function rather than to replace someone. It reports directly to the Managing Director, with no management hierarchy in between, so a better way of doing things can be raised, agreed and implemented quickly. THE ROLE You'll turn customer drawings and specifications into planned, priced estimates for fabricated and machined structures and components. That means working out the method, the fabrication and machining times and the materials, so each quote is both competitive and profitable. The workload is highly varied, so no two enquiries look the same, and quick turnaround matters. You'll deal with suppliers on material pricing, availability and technical requirements. You'll also plan each job up front so that when an order is won, Procurement and Production can start quickly and accurately. You'll share ideas and experience within the estimating team. Because you report straight to the MD, if you see a faster or more accurate way to estimate, you can put it forward and see it happen. ABOUT YOU You'll already be estimating in a mechanical engineering, subcontract fabrication or machining environment. You're comfortable reading customer drawings and specifications, calculating fabrication and machining times, and talking confidently with suppliers and customers. You know a price has to win the work and make money at the same time. You're well organised, at home on an MRP system and in Word and Excel, and always looking for faster ways to estimate accurately. xrexnqw You'll enjoy a small team environment where a sense of humour goes a long way. You may currently be an Estimator, Estimating Engineer, Cost Estimator or Quotations Engineer. THE REWARDS £45,000 to £50,000 basic salary Full-time, permanent position
