About the Role
Certain Advantage is recruiting an Embedded Software Engineer for a defence organisation in Filton, Bristol. This is an initial six-month contract, with the potential for an ongoing, longer-term assignment. The role is based on site full time, with occasional working from home, and involves embedded software development using C++ and Rhapsody (UML).
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain embedded software using C++.
- Use Rhapsody and UML to support software modelling and design.
- Contribute across the full software development life cycle, from requirements and design through to testing and maintenance.
- Use JIRA to track development tasks and software issues.
- Work with engineering colleagues to support software integration and resolve technical issues.
What You'll Need
- Experience in embedded software engineering and C++ development.
- Knowledge of Rhapsody and UML modelling.
- Familiarity with JIRA.
- Experience across the full software development life cycle.
- Availability to work predominantly on site in Filton, Bristol.

- A contract rate of £70 per hour.
- A 37-hour working week, with hours worked above 37 paid at time and a quarter.
