About the Role
A&O Shearman is seeking a Data Protection Lawyer for a full-time Senior In-House Lawyer: AI & Data Privacy position within its Data Privacy Risk team in Belfast, Northern Ireland. Part of the firm’s wider Risk function, the team helps uphold A&O Shearman’s values and supports its strategic objectives. This role offers the opportunity to apply your legal expertise to AI and data privacy matters in an in-house setting.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide practical in-house legal advice on data protection, privacy and AI-related matters.
- Help identify and assess legal and regulatory risks affecting the firm’s use of data and AI.
- Support the development and review of relevant policies, procedures and guidance.
- Work with colleagues across the Risk function and wider business to support informed decision-making.
- Monitor relevant legal and regulatory developments and explain their implications to stakeholders.
What You'll Need
- A legal qualification and relevant experience suited to a senior in-house lawyer role.
- Strong knowledge of data protection and privacy law, alongside an understanding of AI-related legal issues.
- The ability to translate complex legal requirements into clear, practical advice.
- Sound judgement when assessing risk and balancing legal requirements with business objectives.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to engage a range of stakeholders.
