About the Role
Join East Kent Mencap as a part-time Complex Needs Support Worker within Day Resource Services in Margate, Kent. Working across the Margate and Ramsgate hubs, you’ll support people with complex learning disabilities, autism and complex health needs on a 2:1 basis. Your creativity and compassion will help individuals work towards personal goals and lead fulfilling lives.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide person-centred support tailored to each individual’s needs, preferences and goals.
- Work alongside colleagues to deliver 2:1 support within the Margate and Ramsgate hubs.
- Use creative approaches to help people take part in meaningful activities.
- Support individuals who may communicate their needs through behaviour that challenges, responding calmly and compassionately.
- Promote choice, independence and wellbeing while remaining attentive to complex health and support needs.
What You'll Need
- A compassionate, patient and respectful approach to supporting people.
- An understanding of learning disabilities, autism and the importance of individualised support.
- The ability to respond calmly to behaviour that challenges and recognise it as a form of communication.
- Creativity and flexibility when helping individuals engage in activities and pursue their goals.
