Your responsibilities will include: Providing personal care, dressing and support with daily living Hoisting, transfers, positioning and repositioning Pressure care, pressure relief and wound management Suprapubic catheter care Ileostomy and stoma care Medication administration Respiratory monitoring and support Safe eating and drinking Choking and aspiration risk management Supporting independence and established routines Supporting meaningful activities and quality of life Using specialist care equipment safely and confidently Recognising changes in condition and escalating concerns appropriately Complex Clinical Care This is a high-complexity care package, so previous experience in complex care is essential. The client has reduced cough effectiveness and respiratory muscle weakness, which increases the risk of chest infections and respiratory deterioration. You will therefore need to be confident monitoring respiratory health and responding appropriately to any changes. There is also a choking and aspiration risk, requiring staff to follow swallowing guidance, provide appropriate supervision and respond calmly and confidently in an emergency. The role also involves suprapubic catheter and ileostomy care, alongside management of an existing pressure wound and ongoing pressure-injury risk. You will need to be comfortable with repositioning, pressure relief, specialist equipment and recognising when concerns need to be escalated.
