About the Role
Academics is recruiting for a compassionate and enthusiastic ASD Assistant to join a specialist school in Reading, Berkshire. You will support young people with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), helping them access learning and participate in school life. This permanent role is an excellent opportunity for a Psychology graduate or aspiring education professional considering a future in Educational Psychology, Clinical Psychology, Therapy or Teaching.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide one-to-one and small-group support for pupils with ASD.
- Help pupils engage with classroom activities and develop confidence in their learning.
- Work alongside teaching staff to support pupils’ individual learning needs.
- Encourage positive communication, social interaction and independence.
- Contribute to a calm, supportive and inclusive learning environment.
- Follow school safeguarding procedures and share relevant observations with staff.
